Shannon Finds Hope and Stability Through Reliable Transportation

When Shannon lost her vehicle in an accident, life quickly became overwhelming. “I realized taking an Uber to and from my children’s school, to work, and to all necessary appointments was not feasible—the cost was just too much,” she shared. Determined to find a solution, Shannon started researching and discovered Hands of The Carpenter.

At first, she learned that Hands wasn’t accepting new clients at that time. But instead of giving up, she followed the resources she was given, reaching out to churches and other charities. That’s when she connected with Dave—someone deeply connected to Hands for many years. With his support, Shannon was able to receive a vehicle through Hands. “For that, I am forever grateful,” she said.

As a single mom to two beautiful daughters, ages 7 and 11, reliable transportation means everything to Shannon. “Both of my girls are involved in many activities such as dance, gymnastics, and Girl Scouts,” she explained. Without a dependable vehicle, staying active and involved became a major challenge. “It is time-consuming and costly having to wait for public transportation or take Ubers and Lyfts. Not having reliable transportation makes it really difficult to get to doctor appointments, grocery shop, and overall just get around.”

Thankfully, working with Hands of The Carpenter was a smooth and easy process. “They were quick, listened to my needs, and did their best to match me with a vehicle that was going to be reliable and efficient,” Shannon said. “They kept me involved and updated in everything.”

Today, Shannon has a safe and reliable car, which has made her daily commute and busy family life much easier. She credits Hands for making a meaningful difference and feels deep gratitude for everyone who played a part in her journey.

When asked what advice she would give to other single moms, Shannon’s encouragement shines through:

“Never give up. Always think positive, even in the most stressful situations, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. Reach out to the community as there are resources available. Just know you are worth it—and be the best mom you can be.”
