About the SHIFT Program

SHIFT is a three-year program at SparkHope Automotive. It is designed to reduce barriers and provide long-term vehicle stability for single mothers.

Through structured automotive support—including diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs—SHIFT helps moms maintain the reliable transportation they need to support their families and achieve self-sufficiency. Qualified clients pay just 50% of retail costs for labor on our services and a disclosed percentage of the cost of parts.

SHIFT Client Qualifications

All of the following are required and recertified annually:

  • Single; not living as married

  • Mother with dependent children living in her household

  • Dependents are 18 years old or younger or a disabled adult child

  • Financial ability to pay 50% of Labor and a percentage of the cost of parts

  • Valid driver’s license, registration, and insurance

  • Living in one of the seven Denver metro counties: Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, or Jefferson

Application Requirements

  • Complete the online application and upload all required documents for the SHIFT intake interview. Only qualified applicants are served.

  • Client Agreement & Client Services Survey: Defines eligibility and behavior expectations. Signed annually to recertify qualifications.

  • Clients remain eligible for up to three years and pay 50% of retail value for Labor on our services.

What SHIFT Does Not Include

  • Free Cars: SHIFT is a fee-for-service program. Free vehicles are not provided. This ensures SparkHope can serve more single moms who already own a vehicle.

  • Services that cost more than the value of the vehicle (in most cases)

  • Engine or transmission rebuilds or replacements

  • Vehicles with visible damage from accidents or other incidents

  • High-repair investments are reviewed case by case by our automotive team

We estimate the application will take about 30 minutes. You will need images of the following documents (cell phone photos are accepted):

  • Valid and Up to Date Driver’s License

  • Current and Valid Vehicle Registration

  • Current and Valid Vehicle Insurance
